Empat Musim Pertiwi is a suspense drama for anyone who has ever felt powerless and fought to find their way home to the light.
The official poster and trailer were unveiled at a press conference held at Studio 2, XXI Epicentrum Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The film is set for a nationwide theatrical release in Indonesia on October 8, 2026.
Empat Musim Pertiwi is the only Indonesian film officially selected for the Toronto International Film Festival 2026 and will also screen at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) 2026.
Produced by Forka Films, it marks the company’s largest production to date and holds the record as the Indonesian film with the most executive producers in history. The film is a six-country co-production between Indonesia, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Saudi Arabia, and Poland.
The film is written and directed by Kamila Andini and produced by Ifa Isfansyah. The ensemble cast includes:
Putri Marino, Christine Hakim, Aryo Saloka, Hana Malasan (deaf actor), Shofia Shireen, Nagra Pakusadewo, Dwika Pradnyana (actor with vitiligo), Maryam Supraba, Hana Aretha, and Totos Rasiti.
Principal photography took place almost entirely in Bromo, across residential areas, farmlands, and the iconic Sea of Sand. Through a bold cross-genre approach, including elements of sci-fi, the film gives voice to pressing social concerns while delivering a deeply personal story.
SYNOPSIS;
After 20 years, Pertiwi (Putri Marino) finally returns home. But her homecoming is met not with celebration, but with rejection even by her own family. Only Mak Ira (Christine Hakim) and Bisma (Aryo Saloka) welcome her back.
Pertiwi knows that returning means confronting the past that once led her to a prison cell. This time, however, she is not running away. She has come to face the four seasons of her life the seasons that once plunged her into darkness before she can slowly bloom again and walk toward the light.
